Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal 2003
MAINTENANT. Images du temps présent
NOW. Images of Present Time

This publication, in perfect harmony with the theme of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, is much more than a catalogue of exhibitions; rather, it is an autonomous and authoritative work which assembles ten or so contributors issuing from diverse professional and theoretical perspectives (psychoanalysis, media studies, philosophy, political sciences, etc.). Previously unpublished analyses and essays treating such matters as the rituals of the media, the monumentalization of press imagery, the artistic interpretation of the catastrophic, the manner in which the impact of an event will colour the reception of its depiction, the rejection of the event, compassion fatigue, the privileges of the spectator/witness, etc., figure prominently in this bilingual and richly illustrated publication.
